According to customs statistics, China imported 20,500 tonnes of soda ash in June 2026, up 1,607.82% year‑on‑year and 22.64% month‑on‑month. In the first half of 2026, cumulative imports reached approximately 132,700 tonnes, an increase of 672.71% compared with the same period in 2025, representing a net rise of 115,600 tonnes. The top three sources of soda ash imports in June were the United States, Japan and Poland, accounting for 97.91%, 2.00% and 0.09% of the total import volume, respectively. In June 2026, China exported 240,700 tonnes of soda ash, up 53.23% year‑on‑year but down 8.48% month‑on‑month. Cumulative exports for January–June 2026 totalled 1.4302 million tonnes, a year‑on‑year increase of 44.06%, or an additional 437,400 tonnes compared with the same period last year. The top three export destinations in June were Indonesia, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, accounting for 21%, 15% and 12% of total exports, respectively.
